Who We Are
Our products are organic and ethically sourced. Understanding the makeup of our ingredients and how they were cultivated this movement helps us to better educate our customers on how to use each product + the benefits of doing so. We want to build knowledge of how balancing a healthy beard routine greatly increases a healthier lifestyle.
OUR STORY
Co-Founder and CEO, Curtis Smith, has worked in the medical device field for over two decades. During that time, he has researched how what you put on your body can affect you just as much as what you put in it. After a chance encounter with Louise Gill, Co-Founder and COO, the two discussed creating body care products that were natural, organic and beneficial to health and wellness.
Curtis' combined experience with corporate juggernauts such as Johnson & Johnson, Kimberly-Clark Corporation and C.R. Bard not only took him around the world but showed him that true entrepreneurial spirit drives innovation and accountability to your customers, your family and yourself. Tasked with balancing tactical and strategic solutions in the medical device and pharmaceutical world, Curtis learned to govern himself as if he was running a small business inside of these massive entities. And realizing his capacity to handle complex circumstances in an every changing environment gave him the push he needed to pursue his dreams and start his own business. Believing, “The only way to control your destiny is to create it,” Beard Pharaoh was born. Drawing on his understanding of medical devices and pharmaceuticals allowed him navigate the process for ensuring the products are properly tested and efficacious for the customers. Faith, creativity, technical acumen, and perseverance are Curtis’ cornerstones and his trajectory is success.
Louise grew up watching her father start small businesses and her brother create his own record label so being an entrepreneur was embedded in her from a young age. Recognizing her proclivity towards creative outlets and ability to entwine words into colorful stories, she chose to pursue Public Relations as a degree from Clark Atlanta University. While her professional career began with PR roles in non-profits such as The 100 Black Men of America, Operation P.E.A.C.E. and Aid to Children of Imprisoned Mothers, Louise also learned the art of running a business while freelancing as a graphic designer and photographer. Being able to corral her talents and scale up was always the dream, the start of Beard Pharaoh is the gateway and partnering with a likeminded go-getter has been the key. Together with Curtis, Louise has her sights on creating a sustainable business that creates jobs and becomes a global force.

Our focus from the start was to build a strong brand with beautifully crafted African imagery, unique, premium quality beard care products for passionate Black beardsmen. Our customers and community are men who are critical about their beards and identify them as a lifestyle rather than a grooming choice.
